Hot in the City

Ugh... I moved up north so I wouldn't melt to death. So, I went to the movie today so I could sit in free air conditioning!!! SATC2 ?? I really wish the writers could do better. I love the show because it is was 1) based in Manhattan and 2) about wonderful friends and the real life whoes of being single. There were some good scenes and at the core the characters are still the same. That being said - is Samantha ever going to stop acting 30??? I am not saying that she needs to stop being single and horny (HELLO - WHO AM I???), but can't she be a bit classy while doing it? They just make her act like she is 20 years younger than she is...I found it silly and that story has been done over and over and over.

Charlotte & Miranda? Best scene of the whole movie was those two talking in their room bar about their kids while drinking. Hilarious!

Carrie? Well, you finally got what you wanted and now all you can do is whine about it. You know that Big wasnt all that into the city scene anyway.

And its called SEX AND THE CITY. The city is manhattan, not somewhere in the middle east. I am all for a girls weekend but not the majority of the movie.

Hmmmm...that being said I am gonna take a nap and try and make it to the gym tonight.

Bad Date - Donts

Well, at least an odd or bad date gives me something to gossip about. I am relaxing in my apartment with a good glass of red and watching Sex and the City reruns - can't wait for the 2nd movie!!!! Anyway, back to the bad date issue. He picked the lower east side and I picked the bar (for a little bit of background). First time meeting him but we got along great via text (hahahaha) and very cute pics...

1. Don't agree to meet me at a bar and then order a diet coke. That makes me feel like a complete loser and alcoholic. Both of which I tend to do well on my own.
2. Don't pick a neighborhood where parking is a bitch and then drive!!! I was left sitting at the bar playing on my phone for close to an hour while he was "looking for parking". And I paid for my own beer in that hour. If I wanted to date myself - which I do from time to time - I would have gone to the park or a movie or brought my book.
3. Don't wear Ed Hardy.
4. Don't wear your hair in a faux-hawk. Especially when you have a normal hair cut.
5. Don't post only pictures that are about five years old and 20 lbs lighter on-line in your profile. I hate fake advertising.
6. Don't put a plastic life-sized skull and forearm skeleton in your car. Or a troll doll.

And last but not least - don't give a fake name. Its not like I checked his drivers license and know he was lying about his age. But all night all he did was talk about his time in the NHL and now plays for a minor league due to injury. Oh, and he helps coach the special olympics hockey team. And he owned/ran several restaraunts in the past and is working on his graduate degree in occupational therapy..... So, in the year 2010 I am pretty sure that I could Google ANYONE and find something about them. Let alone a past NHL player. Not so much with this guy. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Needless to say, no 2nd date.

NYC weekend

Well, had a pretty fun weekend. Exhausted today and enjoying the cooler, cloudy weather. It is May but feels like fall ... just really glad I can walk outside without sweating my ass off. Ha!

Hung out in my 'hood with peeps from work this past Friday. Mexican food and margaritas at Southside Seaport. Then off to Paris for more drinks! View of Brooklyn bridge from the bar, very cool. And the bartenders appeared to like our group :-) That never hurts!

Monday night went to dinner and off-broadway show - Avenue Q. Funny as hell, musical with puppets that had a sex scene! Only in Manhattan I guess!

Date with my City

My day off? Slept in yesterday and drank mudslides in my apartment while watching the rain. Not too productive. Laundry and bought a new phone - it took all night to play with it and figure it out :-) Oh, and then my favorite Italian Rugby player came over to make sure my new handcuffs worked well. They did, enough said.

So, today I visited the Guggeheim museum on the upper east side. Very interesting, a great building from an architectural stand-point. The best display on view was called Haunted - some very disturbing artwork centered around death and really gross stuff. Right up my alley!!!!

Then over the Central Park - you could literally spend all day long there. I really felt like a loser - like I should have been jogging and sweating. Sounds like a good way to meet some hot sweaty guys if you ask me. I know what I'll be doing on my next day off....hahaha

Ok, I must admit - then I went to times square to see a chick flick. A pretty bad one - The Back Up Plan. No guy is going fall in love and stay with a women who has been knocked up with twins via frozen sperm. Really?? Even JLo wouldn't pull that off in real life. But, the actor was hot with his shirt off. I got my $12 worth.

Till next time -

Opening Day - Baseball is BACK!!!!

Jeffrey was here last week and THANK GOD baseball season is back. We went to opening day of the Yankees and saw the World Series ring ceremony. It was tons of fun and then dinner in Little Italy. I am planning on a Mets game this weekend and am really looking foward to summer in the city!

This past weekend I gave a lecture on Spinal Trauma for the local NYC Veterinary Medical Association. Went well and still trying to get the Sessums name out there and support my hospital. Free drinks after so I can't complain too much :-)

Oh, Sex Museum - very much recommended. At least for a good laugh and the museum shop! What's on display? Condoms, animal sex, sex toys and a history of porno movies!

New Hood

So, me and Nobie have been walking around, checking out the new neighborhood. I must say that I absolutely love it! Much cleaning, nicer, quieter than where I was in Brooklyn. Is it wrong that I am absolutely happy I haven't seen any kids in my building yet?? And Nobie loves it too! She is so excited to see all the people coming and going outside and all the new smells. No issues with potty either - she is officially a Manhattan dog :-)
I have found out that walking a dog in the city = you're a local. Therefore, people stop you and ask for directions and street vendors flirt with you - hahahaha. I guess the only downside of my neighborhood is the at it is touristy. BUT, considering that I am new to NYC, it doesn't bother me since I am kinda still one of them.
Below are some new pics of the apartment and surrounding area. Anyone and everyone is invited to come visit!!!!!

Holy Crap!!!!! It's been a long time

Ok - Kill me. I suddenly realized that I missed my blogging and am officially back! I am sure that no one really reads this blog anyway and for those that do, you probably keep up with me on Facebook....NEway, its a good outlet for me. I deserve one little page in the world wide web, right??

Halloween 09 -------------------->>>

In an attempt to keep this from being a gazillion pages long....let's just make a list of what's changed in Kara's life in the past eight months:

1. Awesome trip to Texas in August for the twins first B-day. I enjoyed it so much and can't wait to get back.

2. The fall is beautiful here! All the colors changing in the trees. I love love love the change of seasons. AND I got my snow and didn't have to drive in it, so bonus!. Too bad the snow doesn't hang around longer. I am ready for the spring now - not the rain that we have been getting more than enough of - but of the blooming flowers!

3. YANKEES WIN !!!!!!! Nothing else to say there...

4. Sunday Funday with the girls from work. Too bad the Cowboys didn't pull it out, but there is always this next season. Oh - and there is a line of sports bars on the Upper East Side that all have a Southern theme. My own little slice of heaven :-)

5. Been on a TON of speed dating and single mixers in the city. I have to admit that the "tattoo lovers" one was the last straw. Yes, Michelle didn't have to wring my arm to get me there but the cutest guy was the bartender. I even went out with my real estate broker who showed me some apartments in the city! On-line dating also continues to amuse me...

6. Still single and I am not worried about it, so I hope no one else is. If I do ever decide that I need to actually use my uterus - I have locked in the cutest Irish gay man in Brooklyn as my sperm donor. And my bedroom needs continue to be met by the cutest Italian rugby player in Brooklyn. So, life is good!

7. Vegan? Did it for six months straight - even made Tofurkey for Thanksgiving. Then I went on vacation and included dairy and seafood into my diet. Well, it was all downhill for the next month. I must say though that I am going back to being a vegan. It really makes me feel better (physically and emotionally) and it does make keeping the weight off easier. My GI tract does not like to have to digest dairy and meat products - let's just leave it at that.

8. Marathons? Chicago, Philadelphia and Hamptons. My best time so far is 4:32 and I really want to get under 4:30!!!! I look forward to getting back into the Marathon mood this spring/summer and fall. It is really really hard to run in the cold up here :-)

9.Hamptons trip? Yes! I completely recommend that everyone in their right mind go out there whenever possible. I have a feeling that it might be a yearly thing for me now, in the late summer when the crowds aren't crazy but I can still get a good tan.

10. X-mas in NYC. One of the channels here plays a yule log burning with Xmas music all day long. I watched it in my PJs and drank champagne with Nobie. It was super-fab. Oh, and all the decorations are pretty damn cool.

11. Vacation in St. Lucia. I highly recommend it and yes, it looks exactly like it did in the Bachelor. Rob and I already booked our next vacation - Antigua 2011. It is great to get away in the middle of winter. And NO - Rob and I are not a couple, on our honeymoon or even having sex. And I don't think he is gay. heeheehee

12. I am officially 34 now. It doesn't feel any different than 33 or 32 or even 31. Maybe a bit different than 30, but in a good way.

13. I saved the best for last.....Manhattan, here I come! I looked for several months throughout all the different neighborhoods in downtown and Manhattan and found an awesome building. I hear once you have a doorman, you'll never want to live without one. I figured that maybe I would see how it feels to live in what seems and looks like a hotel, 24-7. Pics are coming soon as I will be officially living on Wall Street in 48 hours.

14. Penis party? Yes, of course. And there was a stripper for Katie's birthday.

Whew!! I think that is everything. I promise to be better about the blog, I do miss it so!

Arrividerci,

P.S. #14 I am learning Italian and plan on visiting Rome ASAP
