Go Yankees!

Go Yankees! Nine in a row! Went to my first Yankee game last night in the Bronx last night vs. the Orioles. I loved it, but then again I just love baseball when the weather is awesome! Look at that sky - all blue and no clouds. So what if beers are $9 each? That is why I go with my boss cuz pays for everything! Perk of the job, I guess. I went with the boss, visiting vet, one of the owners and his family. Way fun! Could living in New York City get any better? And the cab ride through Manhattan to get to the Bronx was a perfect start to the evening. Yankee fans are crazy too, did I mention that? Very different from the Mets - if I have to choose I obviously would say I am more of a Yankees fan. Easy to be a fan of a winning team!

View from out seats....oh, and we were stuck behind this young couple sucking face the whole game. Ugh - get a room! And some random guy who was NOT cute hit on me. I had a baseball hat and flip flops on, WTF? Must have been the blue jean mini skirt and low-cut t-shirt with my cleavage :-O I am not an idiot and enjoy it when even losers notice my tits. HeeHeeHee

Yankees win!!!! The scoreboard was right behind us....

Ok, so after the game we went to Stan's - apparently THE Yankee bar that you have to go into. Well, this week is Fleet Week so tons of sailors out. Brett and I have an awesome time people-watching. He cracks me up! NYC is the best place to watch people and make fun of them. I am so going to hell to maybe 1/2 of the things I did and said last night. HA!

More later people - I'm out.

Prospect Park

The biggest park in Brooklyn is not too far away, about 30 min brisk walk. But, way better than the one right by my house. It was designed by the same person who did Central Park. There is a huge open meadow with awesome thick grass. Noble's favorite part was the dog beach :-) There is a large lake too and tons of hiking trails. It was so nice to walk around and not feel like you are in the city. Odd, but nice. And the meadow totally reminded me of Twilight. Or the fact that I was reading Breaking Dawn, again! Below is the main northern entrance...
Which is also where the main Brooklyn Public Library is - very cool building, obviously.

Nobie swimming away. Gotta keep her on leash though after 9am (which I am never anywhere before 9am on my days off). Hope she doesn't get Lepto from the damn water. But, she just loves getting in water, mud, puddles etc. I can't deny her any satisfaction in life.

Awe, the meadow. I can just picture Edward now....
Yes, I am an idiot but what else is new? I have been sunbathing all day on my porch. No motivation to go anywhere today. And I had big plans for cleaning house. That has worked out so well thus far. But, on a good note I have some color to my face and arms and I am almost finished with my book. And I live alone, so no one knows my apartment has animal hair all over it. I win!

What a Rush!

Does anyone think it is weird that I decided to run across the Brooklyn Bridge today? The weather was awesome - sunny, partly cloudy and about 65 degrees - perfect running weather! After I took Noble to the park here by my apartment, I thought "I feel good, that was only a short jog - how about a long run into Manhattan today?" It actually wasn't that long into THE CITY...about 35 minutes. The scenery was wonderful going into Manhattan and tons of people to not run into.Right after you cross over the bridge into Manhattan, you are dumped into City Hall, which I was pleasently suprised to see. Also, a neat little park. I bought some Powerade and started jogging back...

Below is the view of the bridge going back into Brooklyn. Geez, what a rush. I can't wait to start getting into my marathon training again. It is so freaking awesome to just step out your door and run and run and run. I look forward to literally running all over Manhattan once a week for my long runs :-) Wonder how far it is to Central Park from my apartment...stay tuned!

Not much has been happening this week, getting into the work swing and enjoying it. I gave a lecture on seizure disorders in dogs/cats on Wednesday evening in Staten Island - then proceeded to stay out until 4am with my boss and people from work. You gotta love New York! I will give lecture after lecture for free food and drinks ! Not to mention getting to go into work late, heehee. I also saw Manhattan boy again this week, so I am starting to get know SoHo pretty well... Oh, AND I learned what NOT to ever do on a Saturday night....attempt to go to Wal-Mart and Target. UGH - it was the worst experience of my life. But, I had to make my monthly trip for necessaties...just will plan on doing that on a weekday from now on. What the hell else do all these people in Long Island have to do on a Saturday night. *UCK! And only in NYC would the *amn Wal-Mart be connected to a mall!!!!!!
Ok, I vented - I am better. Happy Mother's Day too to all my friends and sisters-in-law :-)

Another 1/2er

I drove out to Long Island yesterday morning and did another 1/2 marathon. This one was way easier! Nice and flat and it was lightly raining for most of it so it kept us all cool. I did my best time yet @ 2 hours 13 minutes. I also took my phone and listened to New Kids on the Block the whole time!!! It was actually a good time. I have to start working up to a whole marathon soon.
Not much else new here. I am looking forward to Brooke moving here, even if only for 6-12 months. Then I will have a partner in crime :-) Lara is visiting next week so I am SURE there will be a couple of blogs about that. Oh, and I went out on my 2nd date with my manhattan man last night. I am freaking loving it here so far and it has only been a few weeks!
